APC chieftains donate food items to orphanage home

From Blessing Ibunge, Port Harcourt

To relieve the sufferings of the orphans and less privilege people in the society during this period of coronavirus, Chieftains of the All Progressives Party (APC) in Rivers, yesterday donated food items and drinks to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Orphanage home.

The APC chieftains who visited the orphanage home at Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, said their actions was in commemoration of the 55th birthday of the Minister of Transportation, Rt Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi.

Mr Austin Asomegi, former Emohua APC Chairman, recalled that the Minister as then Governor of Rivers State would always visit the less privileged in the state and put smile in their faces during his birthday celebrations.

He said: “We have come here today to commemorate the 55th birthday of our leader, the leader of APC in Rivers State, Rt Hon Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, who incidentally happens to be the former Governor of the state.

“Birthday is not mere giving out gifts, is a particular day to bond with someone you hold at a very high esteem. Rotimi Amaechi is our role model. Because he was not here personally, we said we will not allow any vacuum, we must come for him. What we are doing here has link with the Minister because he is a giver to the people, he is the father of the fatherless.”

Speaking also, Mr Thank God Ohakwe, Chairman, Empowerment and Employment of APC KELGA, noted that the former Governor, marks his birthday every May 27.

Receiving the palliatives, Rev. Mother Obi Ngozi, Proprietor of the Home, thanked the APC chieftains for remembering the children at the time when the world is crying of hardship following the outbreak of COVID-19.
