Police in Kano have arrested three youths between the ages of 17 and 20 for armed robbery and culpable homicide in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano state.
The AUTHORITY reports that violent crimes of armed robbery and kidnapping are on the rise in Kumbotso Local Government Area in recent times, looking at data from Kano state Police Command.
A statement signed by the Kano state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, indicated that the victim of the armed robbery attack, Mohammed Sulaiman, was confirmed dead at the hospital.
The youths had violently attacked their victim, while trying to rob him of his mobile handsets.
The suspected armed robbers are Hussaini Malami (17), Harisu Manniru (20) and Hussaini Abubakar (19) all of Zawaciki Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area , Kano State.
According to the Statement made available to Journalists on Tuesday: “On the 19 September 2021, a report was received that some hoodlums attacked one Mohammed Sulaiman of Sharada Quarters Kano at Yahaya Gusau Street Sharada, stabbed him with a knife and robbed him of his Mobile Phone.
“The victim was immediately rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano, where he was confirmed dead.
“On the same date, another report was received at about 2320 hours, that hoodlums attacked one Kingsley Sunday, of Panshekara Quarters, Kano, Stabbed him with a knife on his shoulder and forehead and took away his Mobile Phone.
“Victim was also rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano where he was treated and discharged.
“Upon receipt of the reports, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi, raised and instructed teams of detectives led by SP Suleiman Ibrahim to arrest the culprits.
“The Team swiftly swung into action, and following credible intelligence, arrested, Hussaini Malami (17), Harisu Manniru (20) and Hussaini Abubakar (19) all of Zawaciki Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area , Kano State.
“A knife with blood stain and the handset of one of the victims were recovered from them.
“On preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed to have conspired and attacked Kingsley Sunday, stabbed him on his shoulder and forehead, and made away with his mobile phone. The suspects are given useful information.
“The Commissioner of Police ordered that, the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Command for discreet investigation, after which suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.”
