Osun APC crisis: Oyetola not losing sleep over gathering of factions

Amidst reports of thickening plot to unseat Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in the 2022 Osun governorship election his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipitan has revealed that the Governor is not losing sleep over the purported plots to unseat him by a faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Omipidan who gave the assurance on a TV programme on Thursday, stated that the governor was more concerned with delivering on his promise to the people during his electioneering campaign.

He insisted that Governor Oyetola has so far done well by keeping his promises, adding that it has become a feat because on the assumption of office as governor he has been able to restore the confidence of the people.

“Most of what the people claim were responsible for why they almost did not want the party to continue governing the state in 2018 had been reviewed by the current governor. You talked about the issue of single uniforms which was a very serious campaign issue in 2018, that had been done away with. Reclassification of school, that has been done away with. Modulated salaries which some would refer to as half salary, it has become a thing of the past.”

The Governor’s aide noted that the Osun APC is intact, stressing that state chairman, Adegboyega Famodun is committed to making sure it remains united to achieve victory in the 2022 Osun gubernatorial election.

“At any rate, most of the leaders of the party, including Chief Bisi Akande, the elder council, and all the former deputy governors in the state are together in the party.”

It would be recalled that a faction of the APC in Osun state, under the aegis of The Osun Progressives (TOP), met last Tuesday, where they agreed to come together against the re election og Governor Oyetola

The group included the camps of former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuff, former Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Najeem Salam and former Secretary to the State Government, Moshood Adeoti , has resolved to back a candidate from Osun West

The Osun Progressives (TOP) which enjoys the support of the Interior Minister, Rauf Aregbesola has had a running battle with the Osun State governor and his Ileri Oluwa group.
