An on air personality/Nollywood actress, Toke Makinwa, has been given 48 hours ultimatum to retract the false allegation made against an Abuja based businessman, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu, or risk 50 billion naira defamation law suit.
This is contained in a statement signed by the businessman’s media aid, Joseph Kadiri and made available to journalists in Abuja, Friday.
The allegation made against the business man, the statement explained, alluded that he was in a relationship with the actress and that he made promises to her which were not fulfilled.
The radio presenter claimed that because of the unfulfilled promises, she slammed a law against the supposedly lover.
In the statement, the businessman however, expressed surprise at the allegation which he said he saw on some online platforms, explaining he has never met with the lady in his life and wondered why the so called Makinwa will make such spurious and malicious allegation against him.
Alhaji Aliyu insisted that he is a responsible married man and will not descend so low to do such an act.
He described the allegation as a cheep blackmail by his detractors aimed at ridiculing him and bringing him to disrepute.
He is, therefore, demanding that Toke Makinwa retract the allegation and tender an unreserved apology that must be published in seven national dailies including all the online platform where the allegation was published.
He also demanded that the publication be pulled down from all the online platforms where it was published and that the platforms should apologise for not verifying the authenticity of the story before going to press as responsible journalism demands.
He said failure to do this within the next 48 hours, he would have no option but to approach the court to seek for redress.
