2023:  Don’t gang up to deny South East president, Afenifere warns Tinubu, Osinbajo, others

*Insists South west has gotten its turn in OBJ, Osinbajo

The pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has warned politicians from the North and South West angling for the Nigerian presidential seat in 2023 to give peace a chance and resist the push to gang up to frustrate the actualization of a Nigerian president of South East extraction

Afenifere leader, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, who gave the warning on Sunday, maintained that both the North West and South West have had their own turn at the presidency, stressing that any attempt to deny the South-East the presidency in 2023 would mean a gang-up and further marginalization of the region

Adebanjo, who gave the warning at the weekend said: “If there is anything like power shift in Nigeria, it should go to the South-East. There is no doubt about that, any other thing is just a gang-up.

“There should not be any argument about that because the South-West has gotten it, the North has gotten, South-South has gotten it. You want the Igbo to remain in Nigeria but you want to discriminate against them, this must be allowed to succeed,” the elder statesman advised
