Cross River warlords allegedly invade Ebonyi, kill one person in renewed clash

The member representing Ikwo-Ezza South federal constituency in the national assembly, Hon. Chinedu Ogah has raised the alarm over the recent alleged invasion of Ochienyim Amagu community in Ikwo local government area of Ebonyi State, by warriors suspected to have come from Adadama in Abi Local Government of Cross River State.

There have been lingering communal land dispute between the two communities with resultant loss of lives and property.

According to the federal lawmaker, the recent attack by alleged Cross River warlords led to the death of one David Nwachukwu from Amagu community.

In a release issued by the federal lawmaker in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital, he condemned the gruesome murder of Mr. Nwachukwu, even as he called on security agencies to carry out thorough investigation on the matter.
“It is disheartening to note that some people allowed themselves to be used to perpetuate such gruesome and barbaric acts.

“I condemn in its totality the murder of this innocent man and I call on the people of Ochienyim Amagu Community to remain calm while urging the security operatives to carry out a thorough investigation on this and bring the perpetrators to book.

“I have always reiterated that it is through peaceful coexistence and unity that we can bring development to our communities not by war. Those who allow themselves to be used to cause mayhem and heinous acts should desist from that.

“I sympathise with the family of the deceased, Mr David Nwachukwu and pray that God comforts them in this time of great loss”, he added
