2023: Ilegal arrest, intimidation, ‘ll not scare us, Zamfara PDP tells governor

From Salisu Zakari Maradun, Gusau

“When your people are there being killed, being kidnapped, being intimidated, their properties destroyed and again they could not bring back their farm produce for fear of attack by the invading bandits, but yet you are only concerned with how you will get your second term bid even if everybody is dying forgetting that only God gives leadership, but perhaps you have forgotten how you came to power”.

The statement above was made by Alhaji Mukhtar Ahmed Lugga, Zamfara PDP chairman while addressing newsmen in Gusau, capital of the state on how the government ordered the unlawful and indiscriminate arrest of their members, including a former minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Ikra Aliyu Bilbis.

Lugga who expressed dismay over the way and manner the state is ran under APC, disclosed that their party, the opposition PDP has been illegally squeezed and deprived of its constitutional right by the present administration which he described as ignorance of law and order exhibited by the governor of the state.

According to the chairman, instead of the governor to concentrate on how to address the issue of insecurity bedeviling the state, he rather prepared to be going round to appeal to some individuals for help, cap in hand and helter skelter from one personality to another.

The PDP Chairman also explained that there is no reason for anyone to prevent the other from exercising his or her constitutional right, especially in an era of political activities which are taking place nationwide, adding, “u don’t think there is anyone in this state that can stop us from dong what the constitution has given us the right to do. And let me tell you to God made me, this action taken by the government of trying to being us down will not succeed, no matter what, and we are not scared of all the intimidation, threat and harassment. Our advise to the government is to concentrate on how it will save thousands of its people from the hands of the enemies of the state, that is bandits, because it is its duty. We the members of the PDP are known to be law abiding ones, and we will continue to remain so, we are loyal and obedient to the rule of law. We are also reminding the governor of the fact that taking action in a harshly manner cannot lead to success,” Revealed Lugga.
