The member representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji River federal constituency in the National Assembly, Hon Toby Okechukwu, has urged the Enugu state electorates to elect the best candidate with a vision of creating and transforming Enugu state into a viable economy.
Hon Okechukwu, who is currently the Deputy minority leader in the green chambers, made the appeal while sharing his views on the Saturday,March 18 Governorship election in Enugu state.
He advised that the next governor of Enugu state must be experienced,versatile as to be able to initiate and develop economic potentials of the state.
He stressed the fact that every eleccted governnor of Enugu state,by implication spearheads the leadership of the South East zone, since Enugu remains the Geo-political capital of the zone.
His words.”When we are electing a governor of Enugu state, we are electing a governor of the entire South East zone. Therefore, we must hire somebody who have the mindset to make the economy work. Some body who have focus and is economy driven.If we hire based on sentiment,every body pays the price”.
“Some body who will govern Enugu state must profer solution to our problems. I don’t want to see a situation where every body struggle to work in government house. The private sectors are the economic drivers. The era of feeding bottle economy is over”.
Hon Toby Okechukwu appealed to the Enugu state electorates to consider electing somebody who have the capacity and experience to turn Enugu state into an enterprising economy with huge internal generated revenue(IGR) just as Lagos state generates over fifty billion naira(N50b).
He lamented that lack of vision for establishing viable industries has been the bane of Enugu state with a negative effect that most young men from this part of the country on graduation, focus on relocating to Lagos to secure a lucrative job.
He expressed optimism that the candidate of PDP in the state governorship election, Dr Peter Mbah.has the sterling qualities to turn around the state economy,imploring his ideas and experience in the private sector.
