Gov Uzodimma, Imo SWAN hails choice of Alua as Chairman of Nigeria National League

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and the State’s Chapter of the Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria (SWAN) have lauded the choice and appointment of Mr. George Alua as the new Chairman of the Nigeria National League ( NNL). 

Aluo was named as the Chairman of the country’s football regulatory body at the weekend, with other members like Khamisu Ahmed Mailantaki as Vice Chairman.

Other members include: Yakubu Sarma, Dani Mohammed, Donald Ikpe, Joseph Uzoma Ebowusim, Dotun Sanusi and Emmanuel Attah ( Chief Executive Officer).

A statement by Oguwike Nwachuku, the Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser to Governor Uzodimma said his principal received with joy Alua’s appointment, describing it as most fitting and well deserving.

Governor Uzodimma said he has followed Alua’s Sports Journalism career trajectory for years and believes he has a lot to contribute to football development in the country as a veteran sports journalist.

The Governor also said it is important to note that coming from Ngor Okpualla Local Government Area of Imo State, Alua has joined the long list of Imo citizens gifted to Nigeria by the State for positive causes as regards national development and unity.

He said he has no iota of doubt in his mind that Alua who has shown perseverance, hard work and loyalty will remain a good ambassador of Imo State as he goes about discharging the duty of taking Nigeria football to an enviable height.

In their own statement, the Imo State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) thumbed up the appointment of Mr George Alua as the new helmsman of the Nigeria National League (NNL).

Alua a veteran sports journalist was named the new Chairman of the Nigeria National League, NNL in a press statement made available to Journalists over the weekend, with Hon. Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki as his Vice. Mr. Yakubu Sarma, Mallam Sani Mohammed, Dr. Donald Ikpe, Chief Joseph Uzoma Ebowusim and Chief Dotun Sanusi will serve as members, while Mr Emmanuel Attah will be the chief executive officer.

Imo SWAN in a press release jointly signed by its Chairman, Everest Ezihe and Secretary, Tunde Liadi said the appointment is a reward for perseverance and hard work and the body prays that  God will give him His grace in repositioning the nation’s league. 

According to them “we couldn’t contain our joy when we heard the appointment of our brother friend and dear colleague, Mr George Alua as the Chairman of the NNL. We have been looking forward to this kind of appointment because it epitomizes reward for hard work,. perseverance and persistence and we are very happy for him,” the Imo SWAN chairman, Ezihe stated.

“We at Imo SWAN wish him the very best in his endeavour and we pray that God gives him the knowledge, the will power and the poise to take NNL to the next level better than he met it.

“We at Imo SWAN will be willing to work with him to help him achieve his objectives if we are called upon.”
