The Arewa Progressive Youths Forum on Sunday commended the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa for keying into the Federal Government poverty alleviation programmes for families of wounded and fallen soldiers.

This is as the group commended troops for operations against bandits and terrorists in the Northern region.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu during a meeting with the CDS recently, disclosed that the Federal government plan to expand the social register to accommodate military personnel that have either been wounded or affected by war, even soldiers that left their families behind.

Arewa Progressive Youths Forum (APYF) in a press release signed by the President Saidu Danladi and Secretary, Maryam Bugaje hailed the initiative saying it would boost morale of troops engaged in operations across the country.

The group said it is an encouragement to troops that their welfare remains a thing of concern, hence they will continue to give their best for their fatherland.

APYF said tackling the security challenges facing the North and the country calls for adequate attention of troops.

According to the group, “We commend the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa for keying into the Federal Government poverty alleviation programmes for families of wounded and fallen soldiers. It is definitely a morale booster for troops.

“We Northerners have really suffered banditry and terrorism. For some years, life has not been normal in our region. Businesses have closed down, while our people continue to struggle to survive.

“We are very much aware that troops tackling these malaise will be encouraged by this cheering news which concerns their welfare.

“We continue to urge youths to eschew all negative vices which has put us in this mess,” the group added.
