Tinubu reverses appointment of 24 year-old Kashim as Chairman of FERMA

By Chesa Chesa

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the withdrawal of the nomination of Engr. Imam Kashim Imam, to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).

Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement on Thursday said the withdrawal of the nomination is with immediate effect.

“All other appointments to the Board and Executive Management team of FERMA are not affected by this directive,” he stated.

The 24 year-old Kashim was nominated for the appointment just last week, but it was trailed by concerns and disapproval in several quarters as he was said to lack experience having completed his one-year compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

However, the president is yet to withdraw the appointment of a serving NYSC member, Hannatu Musawa, the Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy, in spite of public outcry over the apparent aberration.
