ECAPI, Nigeria Police Force, KKF partner against crime in Ogun State, flag of sensitisation

Eagle Crime Awareness and Prevention Initiative (ECAPI), the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Police Command and Kirti’s Kare Foundation (KKF) have embarked upon sensitisation of Ogun State communities in order to kick out cultism, drugs and all forms of crimes on Ogun State. JOHN SILAS writes.

Ishagamu venue for the flag was literarily shut down even as CP Abiodun Alamutu ably represented by the Spokesperson of Ogun Police Command SP Omolola Odutola, led the movement against crime and cultism on November 30, 2023.

The sensitization was designed to end cultism, cybercrime, child labour, fake product, forgery and impersonation, land crabbing, child stalling, killing, lynching, domestic violence, violence against women and malicious damage.

Other forms of crimes include arson, bribery and corruption, conspiracy attempt, sex trade, kidnapping, terrorism, slavery, robbery, fraud, assault, rape, defilement and abduction, unlawful assembly and riot, among other crimes.

SP Omolola Oduntola, speaking to the media revealed that the sensitization was a huge success and praised the Nigeria Police and their partners for the voluntary and massive supports.  “I am totally awed by the crowd, by the number of the turnout, by the number of voluntary partnership and participation, we have over 5000 people here in Shagamu, turning out for this particular movement against crime initiative, it is exhausting. We have market women, the aged, traditional rulers, the baales, they are all out here, we have the students, secondary and primary schools, the youth, security personnel, even the Akarigbo of Remo Land, what else can we say as a security agency, the Nigeria Police Force. We dedicate this initiative specifically to the Police Commissioner of Ogun State, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustafa; I want to use this opportunity also to thank the Inspector General of Police who is trying every day, tirelessly, to make sure that the community of Nigeria is properly secured.”

Ambassador Samuel Eniola Adam said “The Nigeria Police is ready to flush out criminals from Nigeria, not just Ogun State. This is the last warning and red card to all criminals in Nigeria to repent from criminal activities in Nigeria. The Nigeria Police is ready to do the needful to eliminate crime in Nigeria. We are warning all the landlords, the landladies, CDA chairmen, to give this warning to all the tenants in their houses that they should stop crime and criminality in Nigeria. The Nigeria Police is ready to flush them out and to pursue them, we are giving last warning.”

He said “I am the paramount ruler, I am the chairman of Ogun State Council of Obas, we know that Ogun State is the investment destination of Nigeria, and Remo land is the investment destination of Ogun State. So it just made so much sense that the whole thing started from here so that investors would know that we don’t treat crime with levity. To keep hope alive, we would continue to build them so that they can build the nation we tell them that they should not be discouraged, Nigeria will be better for all for us.”

Karti Sudhanshu, Kirti’s Kare Foundation (KKF) told the people that Police is their friend, that all they needed was to avoid crime and police world be there to protect them, but when they indulge in crime, the police would do everything possible to get them arrested. She used an example to explain what she meant, “You have a very good sports car but if it doesn’t have break and you drive very fast, what will happen? So my simple view is when you are doing something right, police will help you, police is your friend, but when you do something unlawful, police will catch you, it does not mean the police is bad, police is doing their duty. We are here today to say, no to crime, kick out crime from Ogun State, all kinds of crime, and that is why Nigeria Police, ECAPI, KKF are all here for this programme.”

Following the coalition of Security Operatives comprising the Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp NSCDC, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency  NDLEA, So Safe,  Vigilante, National Youth Council of Nigeria, and Several Traditional rulers from different communities all converged to support Eagle Crime Awareness and Prevention Initiative led by President Ambassador Samuel Eniola Adam to kick off the road walk at exactly 9:55 AM from the Palace of Akarigbo Remo Land which aimed at eradicating Cultism, Armed Robbery, Rape, Land Grabbing and other forms of crimes, moving further from Palace of Akarigbo to Ita-Oba inward Makun, Folarin, Ijagba, Sabo and Ayegbami.

The event was to restore peace and normalcy in Shagamu.

A lady participant whose name our crew could not capture said “We don’t want hoodlums, we don’t want miscreants, we don’t want criminals take over Ogun State and that is why this initiative has come strong at this particular point in time. Don’t forget we are coming to the end of the year, you are planning and we also know that the criminals are planning. So for this reason we are here at the Akarigbo Palace trying to sensitise people, trying to tell them as much as possible, keep crime out of Ogun state, and what are these crimes we are taking about, we are talking about cultism, we are talking about drug abuse, we are talking about kidnapping, we are talking about armed robbery. Shagamu now has become the centerpiece of most of these crimes, and that is why the commissioner of police CP Abiodun has supported this initiative to say no, we don’t want these killings, we do not want wanton killings, we do not want incessant killings. So if it is as a result of lack of sensitisaton, we are coming out now en mass in collaboration with ECAPI saying, youths, say no to drugs, say no to substance abuse, the more you commit crimes, the tendencies that your life would be cut short, that is the whole essence of this carnival to kick crime out of Ogun State.
