Senator Barau visits families of Uromi Killings victims, donates N16m

Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin, on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, visited the families of the 16 travelers who were killed in Uromi, Esan North East LGA of Edo State. The visit, which took place at the At-Taqwa Mosque in Bunkure LGA of Kano State, was a gesture of sympathy and solidarity with the bereaved families.

Senator Barau was accompanied by several dignitaries, including the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Hon Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, and the Managing Director of the North West Development Commission (NWDC), Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji.

During the visit, Senator Barau donated N16 million to the families of the victims, reassuring them that justice would be served. According to his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that the perpetrators of the heinous crime are brought to book.

The visit and donation are seen as a significant gesture of support and solidarity with the families of the victims, who hailed from Bunkure, Kibiya, Rano, and Garko LGAs.
