The Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, Senator Basheer Garba Lado, led a delegation of presidential nominees from Rivers State to appear before the Senate Ad-hoc Committees for screening and confirmation into strategic state institutions on Thursday, according to a press statement from Iyogun Sunday, Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations, Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters on Thursday.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated individuals for appointments into institutions in the state. Individuals nominated were: Dr. Barikor Livinus Baribuma, for Chairman, River State Civil Service Commission, while those nominated as members were: Ambassador Lot Peter Egopija, Ms. Maeve Ere-Bestman, Mrs. Joy Obiaju, and Mrs. Charity Lloyd Harry..
Those for the State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) were Dr. Michael Ekpai Odey, as Chairman, while
Mr. Lezaasi Lenee Torbira, Professor (Dr.) Arthur Nwafor, Professor Godfrey Woke Mbudiogha, Professor (Dame) Joyce Akaniwor, Dr. (Mrs.) Olive A. Bruce, and Professor Chidi Halliday as members.
For Rivers State Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Israel N. Amadi, Chairman, Mr. Linus Nwandem, Lady Christabel Ego George-Didia, Dr. Tonye D. Willie Pepple, Barr. Richard U. Ewoh, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ofik (Rtd) and Barrister Sammy Apiafi as Members.
At the Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board, Dr. Dawari George, Chairman, Dr. Chituru Adiele, Executive Director, Professor Kaladada Korubp, Dr. Benjamin Osarolaka Osaro, Mrs. Anne Obomanu, Professor Grace Robinson Bassey, Dr. Mike Alagala, Mr. Sunday Asetubobe, members.
However, Mr. Dagogo Alabo was nominated as the Representative, Ministry of Health, Victoria Boma Samuek, Representative, Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Carmelita Ekenyi Agborubere, Representative, Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Mr. James Ngochindo Epobari, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Clifford Paul, Representative, ALGON Rivers State, Elder Luke Usang, Representative, Local Government Civil Service Commission and Mr. Romeo Osima Isokariari – Representative, Ministry of Justice.
Senator Lado emphasized the strategic nature of the agencies and the confidence reposed in the nominees by the President. He stated, “These nominees represent a strong blend of experience, integrity, and professional excellence. Their appointment is a testament to Mr. President’s commitment to inclusive governance and institutional reform.”
The Senate Ad-hoc Committees assured that the screening process would be fair and thorough, guided by competence, track record, and constitutional mandates.
