Residents of Ogun State have commended the Armed Forces of Nigeria for the various non kinetic activities in the state.
They gave the commendation on Tuesday during a Peace and Development rally organised by the Unity Advocacy Group at Sagamu, Ogun State.
This is contained in a press release by the Convener of the Group, Ifeanyi Aigbedion.
He said the rally was organised to promote peaceful coexistence among the different ethnic groups in the state.
The Convener said the residents welcome the various non kinetic activities which has contributed to peace and cordial relationship with the members of the Armed Forces.
According to the Convener “The non kinetic activities has boosted the relationship between the public and the Armed Forces. The people see the military as their own and have continued to support them to keep peace.
“The people are also willing to support the troops by giving relevant information needed to boost their operations.
“The people urged the Armed Forces of Nigeria under the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa not to give breathing space to enemies who have refused to give peace a chance.
“They also acknowledged that without peace and stability, they would be no development.
The rally was also organised in Mowe, Ogun State.
The non-kinetic activities of the AFN is to strengthen civil-military relations and foster community development in addressing Nigeria’s multifaceted security challenges.
Recall that the CDS during a meeting with media executives to mark the two years of their operation since 2023 confirmed that the AFN is applying the kinetic and non-kinetic options which allows the military, not only to use the carrot and stick but also be more compassionate.
