Member representing AMAC/ Bwari Federal constituency in the National Assembly, Joshua Obika, has knocked the FCT indigenous political office holders for shunning the natives 2025 international day celebration.

The event, held at the old parade ground in Area 10 Abuja recently, aimed at empowering indigenous voices, promote rights, and preserve cultural heritage.

Obika, a strong advocate for the rights of the FCT’s original inhabitants, participated in the celebration, engaging with cultural exhibitions and traditional performances.

He said, “Events like the FCT IDWIP are crucial opportunities for the Original Inhabitants to demonstrate their unity and remind the Nigerian government that they are a formidable community, rightful custodians of the nation’s capital. The failure of the indigenous political leadership to attend and support this occasion is deeply regrettable.”

During the proceedings, Obika led attendees in a solemn one-minute silence in honor of the late Kamaludeen Muhammad Danladi Karshi, who lost his life advocating for equity for the FCT’s indigenous population.

The FCT’s Original Inhabitants commended Hon. Obika for his commitment to their cause and pledged support for organizing next year’s FCT IDWIP celebration. Hon. Obika pledged N500,000 to support the event and promised to mobilize organizations and participants to enhance its scale and impact.

The AMAC/ Bwari members was accompanied to the event by several key party supporters, including Hon. Kingsley Okeke, Alhaji Farouk Datsama, and others.
