The Emeritus Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Onaiyekan has pledged to support indigent children of Super Brains Golden Crown Academy at Idu village of the FCT.
He made the pledge while speaking at the school 11th speech and prize giving day celebration, recently.
Onaiyekan commended the school’s efforts in providing quality education to both elite and less-privileged children, announcing a merit-based scholarship scheme to support struggling students, covering six years of education.
He appealed to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to empower private schools.
The event which was done at the St Matthew’s Parish, Karmo was graced by His Eminence John Cardinal Onaiyekan, Emeritus Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, and Very Rev. Fr. John Oluoma, the Parish Priest of St Mary’s Catholic Parish, Gyadna in Abuja.
The Chairman of the graduation, Fredrick Ofoha, urged the FCTA to support private schools, noting that it would enable them to make more significant contributions to the education sector.
He also called for government support in providing transportation for students, particularly those traveling to far places.
In her remarks, Proprietor of the school, Mrs. Ifeoma Osike, expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, patrons, and parents for their support.
She highlighted the school’s progress, including its expansion and extra-curricular activities, saying the current infrastructure development was being slowed down due to paucity of funds.
Osike appealed for more support, particularly in providing a school bus, to facilitate the transportation needs of students.
The graduation ceremony showcased the school’s commitment to academic excellence and its efforts to provide quality education to its students.
Similarly, Father Oluoma also awarded scholarship to deserving students.
