A foremost entrepreneur and philanthropist, Nze James Egbu, has described the death of Elder Humphrey Uzoma Onyembi as an irreparable loss to the Igbo nation.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen during the burial of the foremost elder statesman in Aba South Local Government Area, Nze Egbu eulogised him as a rare gem and a special gift to the people of Abia State.
The late Uzoma Onyembi, who was born in the family of the late High Chief Israel Chijioke Onyembi and mother, Lolo Sister Stella Nwanyisunday Onyembi, in Umueme kindred in Akoli Aba Village of Ancient Ohazu Autonomous Community of Aba South Local Government Area, Abia State, was buried at his country home.
Nze James Egbu, the deceased’s in-law, joined family and friends in bidding farewell to the late Elder Uzoma Onyembi at the funeral, which attracted a powerful gathering celebrating the life, values, and enduring legacy of a beloved patriarch.
Other dignitaries from various walks of life also came to pay their last respects and to sympathise with the bereaved family.
Nze Jame Egbu’s presence at the ceremony was not merely symbolic; it was a profound expression of empathy and communal responsibility for a man known for his accessibility and selfless lifestyle.

Speaking during the funeral ceremony, the Chief Mourner, Mr John Onyembi, said the family had lost an Iroko tree and prayed God to grant him rest in His bosom till they meet to part no more, adding that the shoes the highly respected elder left behind are too big for those he left behind.
He remarked that they were consoled by the fact that the deceased lived a fulfilled life and prayed to God to give all the family members the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, stressing that his legacies would remain indelible in the sands of time.

The first son of the deceased, Mr Mitchel Mballi Onyembi, said that his late father was a role model, adding that he was a selfless and humane person.
He described him as a worthy son of Abia State, a legendary pacesetter and a man with a heart of gold whose generosity knew no bounds.
According to him, “Elder Humphrey was a passionate advocate of peace and an accomplished industrialist. A pragmatic consultant on various matters, he was widely respected for his invaluable counsel and deep understanding of life’s complexities. His wisdom, humility, and compassion made him a tremendous source of inspiration to many.”

His eloquence, persuasive ability, and gift of profound discourse made him a man of significant influence.
