The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has strongly condemned the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State, when bandits stormed the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, kidnapping about 25 students.
Speaker Abbas described the attack as “unfortunate, gruesome, and despicable.” He lamented the fate of the students in the hands of the abductors.
The Speaker called for a speedy response by security forces and the timely rescue of the schoolgirls. “Schools should be among the safest places in the country,” he said.
Speaker Abbas expressed confidence in the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies to rescue the schoolgirls and apprehend the bandits.
The Speaker restated the House’s readiness to assist the government in making life and property safe in Nigeria. “The education and welfare of young Nigerians are a top priority for the parliament,” he said.
Speaker Abbas sympathized with the families of the victims, praying for their safe return to their respective communities.
“The trend must be checked by security forces,” Speaker Abbas emphasized.
The Speaker’s statement concludes with a call for the security agencies to expedite their rescue efforts and ensure the safe return of the abducted schoolgirls.
