Umahi Hails Progress on Abuja–Keffi Road Reconstruction During Inspection Visit

The Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, has voiced strong satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the ongoing reconstruction of the Abuja–Keffi Road.

JRB Construction Company Limited received the contract for the emergency rehabilitation of the route in October 2025.

The Abuja–Keffi dual carriageway, considered a major national infrastructure project, is designed to enhance connectivity between the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State, where many federal civil servants working in Abuja reside. The reconstruction is scheduled for completion by the end of March 2026.

During an inspection of the project on Monday, Umahi commended the standard of work being delivered.

He stated: “JRB’s work is top-notch. You won’t see any difference between JRB and China Harbour, and their speed is unmatched.

“In fact, the speed of JRB has prompted China Harbour to speed up their own work on the project.

“This is the kind of people that will grow this country. Be assured that Mr President is aware of what you are doing. And you are going to be paid to the last kobo.”

Reaffirming the federal government’s commitment to supporting outstanding homegrown firms, Umahi said the administration remains focused on empowering indigenous contractors that have shown both competence and patriotism.

He added: “We want to see more indigenous companies like JRB Construction Company Limited, which have demonstrated exceptional performance and patriotism in their work.

“We will continue to support and empower indigenous companies that have the capacity to deliver high-standard projects and contribute to the growth and development of the country.”

According to him, the federal government’s recognition of JRB Construction Company Limited reflects the company’s “exceptional performance” and proven track record in delivering quality infrastructure.

“The company’s reputation as one of the top indigenous construction companies in Nigeria has been reinforced, and it is expected to continue to play a critical role in the development of infrastructure in the country.”
