All roads led to Umunze, the headquarters of Orumba South Local Government Area, as mourners gathered to bid farewell to the late Mrs. Elizabeth Nnabuife, mother of Hon. Chinwe Nnabuife, member representing Orumba North/South Federal Constituency of Anambra State at the National Assembly.
The funeral rite, held on Friday, was attended by a massive turnout of dignitaries, politicians, and well-wishers from far and wide, according to a press release from the legislator’s media team on Saturday.
His Excellency, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, was among the notable attendees, alongside Senator Victor Umeh (Anambra Central), Senator Emma Nwachukwu (Anambra South), and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa.
Other prominent politicians present included members of the House of Representatives, such as Hon. Maureen Chinwe Gwacham (Oyi/Ayamelum), Prof. Oby Lilian Orogbu (Awka North and South), Hon. Peter Aniekwe (Anambra East/West), and Hon. Dominic Okafor (Aguata).
The Secretary-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, His Excellency Emeka Sibeudu, was also in attendance, along with Hon. Emma Nwafor (NTU Japan), representing Orumba South Constituency at Anambra State Assembly State.
Hon. Shadrach Azubuike, the Mayor of Orumba South, Hon. Ben Nwankwo (Ishingidi, Orumba), and Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Obidike, the Deputy Mayor, were among the local government officials present.
Other notable attendees included Hon. Ify Ibinabo, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr Foster Ihejiofor, Commissioner for Agriculture, and traditional leaders such as His Royal Highness, the Igwe of Awa Community.
The impressive turnout was a testament to the impactful life the late Mrs. Nnabuife lived and the high esteem in which her family is held.
Chief Arinze Onwuzuruike (Aridon), Senator Emma Nwachukwu, and Hon. Emma Nwafor were among the many notable personalities who paid their respects to the deceased.
The funeral rite was a befitting tribute to the late Mrs. Nnabuife, reflecting the love and respect of the community for her and her family.
