Plateau youths allege plot by Fulani militants to discredit DSS with false claims

By Pwanagba Agabus, Jos

The Plateau State Indigenous Youths have raised alarm over alleged plans by Fulani militants, terrorists and bandits to stage a World Press Conference to discredit joint security operations in the state.

The press statement was signed by Ezekiel Peter Bini, President of Irigwe Youths Movement, Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, President of Berom Youths Moulder-Association, Miri Timnan Nyantau, President of Tarok Progressive Youths Association, Jonathan Kyesmang Yusuf, President of Mwagavwul Youths, among others, made available to journalists in Jos the State Capital.

According to the Coalition, “Through reliable sources, the Coalition has been furnished with information about a reactionary plan by Fulani militants, terrorists and bandits to stage a World Press Conference, wherein the effective joint operations of the Department of State Services [DSS], the Mobile Police Force, and Operation Rainbow would be falsely projected as genocidal against the Fulani.”

“This comes in spite of the significant degradation of terrorist and bandit cells in recent times, which has resulted in minimized attacks on villages and communities across Plateau State,” the statement said.

“It has also been revealed that the propaganda machinery of these terrorist sponsors is currently mobilising in Abuja to stage the counter press conference, exclusively targeting the DSS an agency that has evidently degraded terrorist networks operating on the Plateau and its environs,” it added.

“Following this development, hamlets, villages and communities have not only expressed relief, but also commended the intelligence-led operations for its commencement and sustained bravery.

“As the vanguard of the State, particularly for hamlets, villages and communities that have suffered series of terror attacks, killings, displacements, kidnappings and abductions, mass destruction of farmlands, oppression and economic servitude, we encourage you not to be dismayed by the humanitarian catastrophe unleashed on you,” the Coalition stated.

The group said it was alerting the government and international community to the alleged false claims.
