Ndigbo in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have promised to support only candidates who have plans that will benefit them in the upcoming FCT Area Council elections.
Chairman of the Igbo Traditional Council (Ndi Eze) in FCT, Dr. Ezeudo Egenti, stated this at the maiden Igbo Political Summit organised by the Gwagwalada Igbo Political Forum over the weekend.
The Summit, with the theme “Political Orientation and Awareness of Ndigbo in Gwagwalada Area Council,”was put together with the aim of bringing Igbo sons and daughters under one umbrella.
Egenti, commended the convener for the foresight, stating that with over sixty percent voting strength of Igbos in the FCT, any candidate seeking their support must first present clear programmes and benefits for the Igbo community.

In his remarks, former vice chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, Mr. Lawrence Onuchukwu, who is also leader of APC non-natives in the FCT, commended the organisers and promised that similar summits would be held in the remaining Area Councils.
Most of the candidates attended the summit, including Comrade Kasimu Mohammed Ikwa of the PDP and Alhaji Usman Yahaya of the APC were accompanied by large entourages. Others present included the APC State Chairman, Alhaji Abdul-Malik Usman, and the PDP Gwagwalada Chairman, Abdullahi Yunusa.
