The Police Command in Kano State has arrested six suspects involved in theft and receiving stolen property in the state.
This is contained in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, in Kano on Thursday.
Kiyawa said that five suspects were arrested following a report of a stolen tricycle at Panshekara Quarters, Kano.
He added that the stolen tricycle, valued at ₦3.5 million, was sold to one Umar Dahiru, for ₦2.6 million who happened to be the sixth suspects.
The suspects confessed to stealing another tricycle, sold to Dahiru for ₦2.7 million.
Two tricycles and a horse bought with proceeds of the crime were recovered.
According to Kiyawa, Dahiru admitted buying the tricycles knowing they were stolen while the tricycles had been returned to their owners.
Kiyawa said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Bakori, had directed an investigation to bring perpetrators to justice.
He reassured the public of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
