Group Commends Security Forces, NSA Ribadu Over Successful Anti-Terror Operations

A civil society organisation, the Community Safety Vanguard (CSV), has commended Nigeria’s security agencies and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for what it described as a successful nationwide offensive against terrorists and criminal elements during the month of May 2026.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Abbas Johnson, the group praised the military and other security operatives for their professionalism, courage and strategic coordination in joint land, air and maritime operations conducted across various parts of the country.

According to the organisation, the operations led to the elimination of 317 terrorists and criminals, the rescue of 221 kidnapped victims, the arrest of 314 suspects, and the recovery of 93 assorted weapons. The security forces also secured the surrender of 18 terrorists, destroyed three illegal refining sites and recovered 21,910 litres of stolen petroleum products.

The group noted that the achievements, as disclosed by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, reflect the growing effectiveness of the country’s security architecture under the current administration.

CSV highlighted successes recorded in different regions of the country, including the activities of Operation Hadin Kai in the North-East, which reportedly neutralised 73 insurgents and rescued 112 civilians, and Operation Fansan Yamma in the North-West, which eliminated 24 terrorists and rescued 22 kidnap victims.

It also cited operations in the North-Central region that led to the dismantling of illegal arms manufacturing facilities in Plateau State, as well as intensified actions against oil theft in the South-South and criminal and separatist groups in the South-East.

The organisation particularly commended Ribadu for providing strategic leadership and fostering intelligence-driven collaboration among security agencies.
“The renewed coordination and synergy among security agencies under the leadership of the National Security Adviser have contributed significantly to recent successes in the fight against insecurity,” the statement said.

The group also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Ribadu as NSA, noting that the decision was yielding positive results in addressing the country’s security challenges.

While celebrating the achievements, the organisation urged security agencies to sustain and intensify their operations against terrorist groups, kidnappers and other criminal networks across the country.

It also expressed concern over the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State, describing the incident as unfortunate and unacceptable.

The group called for the immediate and unconditional rescue of all the victims, urging security agencies to deploy all necessary resources to ensure their safe return.
CSV further commended the Federal Government and the Office of the National Security Adviser for facilitating the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in Oyo State, describing the initiative as a proactive measure to strengthen security and prevent criminal activities in forested areas.

The organisation appealed to Nigerians to support ongoing security operations through vigilance, intelligence sharing and cooperation with relevant authorities.

It stressed that collective efforts by citizens and security agencies remain essential to defeating terrorism, banditry and kidnapping, and restoring lasting peace across the country.
