Rainstorm Wrecks Havoc In Bauchi: 2 Killed, Houses Swept Away, Properties Lost

Bauchi State Police Command has said that early wednesday morning rainstorm claimed 2 lives, with houses, livestock, and other valuables worth millions of naira destroyed in Kirfi LGA, of the state.

A statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, indicated that 50-year-old Aisha Sagir and her 4-year-old granddaughter, Aisha Shuaibu, both of Unguwar Katsinawa, of Bara village, Kirfi LGA, were those affected.

Police operatives attached to Kirfi Division visited the scene of the incident to assess the extent of damage and to maintain law and order in the affected community.

“The commissioner of police, Mr Sani-Omolori Aliyu expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family and the entire people of Kirfi and prayed Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest, and the fortitude to bear the loss,” the statement said.

CP Aliyu assured of the command’s readiness to collaborate with other relevant agencies to support disaster response efforts, ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.

He urged citizens to remain vigilant during this rainy season and to report any emergencies promptly to security agencies for swift response.
