Democracy Day: Nigeria’ll get stronger with unity, perseverance — Dafinone

By Chesa Chesa

Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the Senate, Ede Dafinone, has expressed optimism that Nigeria will overcome its current challenges and emerge stronger through unity, perseverance, and collective commitment.

In his Democracy Day message on Friday, Dafinone congratulated Nigerians on the commemoration of June 12, describing the date as a historic symbol of sacrifice, resilience, and the collective struggle for democratic governance, justice, and national development.

According to him, Democracy Day serves as a reminder of the enduring power of the people’s will and the need to preserve the democratic ideals for which many patriots fought and made sacrifices.

The lawmaker noted that Nigeria’s democratic journey since 1999 has recorded steady progress despite numerous political, economic, and social challenges.

He stressed that although the country is facing economic hardship, democracy remains the best system of government because it provides opportunities for accountability, citizens’ participation, and peaceful change.

“While our nation may be grappling with economic and social difficulties, we must remain steadfast in our commitment to democracy as the best form of government,” he said.

Dafinone urged Nigerians to continue supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as it implements reforms aimed at repositioning the country for economic stability, prosperity, and sustainable growth.

He acknowledged that some of the government’s economic policies require patience and sacrifice but maintained that signs of long-term transformation are becoming evident. The senator expressed confidence that with unity and shared resolve, Nigeria would achieve its full potential.

“With unity, perseverance, and collective commitment, Nigeria will emerge stronger and better positioned to fulfil its immense potential,” he stated.

Dafinone also called on residents of Delta Central to actively participate in the democratic process, especially through voting and civic engagement. He urged eligible citizens who are yet to register for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing that every vote remains a powerful tool for shaping leadership and governance.

“The future of our nation depends on the choices we make, and every vote remains a powerful instrument for shaping good governance and leadership,” he said.

The senator thanked the people of Delta Central for their continued trust and support, while also appreciating their backing for the Sheriff Oborevwori administration in Delta State and the ruling All Progressives Congress.

He warned against returning to opposition politics, urging constituents to remain united and committed to the APC, which he described as the mainstream platform for advancing the interests of the people and building a more prosperous Nigeria.
