The Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government, Allwell Ihunda, has said President Bola Tinubu faces no opposition in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general election.
Ihunda made the declaration in Abuja, on Monday, during the flag -off of the Tunga Madaki- Zuba Road project in the FCT.
He linked Tinubu’s acceptance by Rivers people to Rainbow Coalition, which he said was conceived by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
The ALGON boss, said the delegation was in Abuja to identify with Wike and applaud what he described as the minister’s transformative infrastructural achievements in the nation’s capital.
Ihunda commended President Tinubu for appointing Wike as FCT Minister, saying the former Rivers governor had justified the confidence reposed in him through visible development projects across Abuja.
According to him, the minister’s performance has enhanced the image of Rivers State and demonstrated exceptional leadership and administrative capacity.
Ihunda also commended President Tinubu’s leadership, arguing that his administration’s achievements across the country have strengthened public confidence and positioned him favourably for the 2027 election.
He added that Rivers people were proud that one of their own was spearheading major infrastructural development in the FCT
In Rivers State, “the forthcoming election in 2027 is going to be a walkover. For the first time in the history of Nigeria, we have the Rainbow Coalition, where virtually all the political parties are working together in the interest of the Federal Government and the President.
“We are here today in solidarity with our leader, the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Chief Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike. We are proud that a son of Rivers State has changed the landscape of the Federal Capital Territory.
“This is the first time an FCT Minister is transforming the city at this scale, with projects being commissioned and flagged off almost daily as part of activities marking President Tinubu’s third year in office.
“We have come to tell the world that we are solidly behind our son, and we also support President Bola Tinubu. From what we have seen, it is clear that Rivers State, and indeed Nigerians, would want the President to return in 2027 to continue what he has started,” he said.
