The Member representing Ebonyi North East Constituency in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly,Mrs. Chinyere Juliet Nwogbaga, has continued the disbursement of scholarships to brilliant indigent students across the seven wards of her constituency, reaffirming her commitment to expanding access to education and improving the welfare of her constituents.
The scholarship awards, presented under the Adaeji Eje Mba Charity Foundation, benefited scores of students drawn from various tertiary institutions. The initiative, according to the lawmaker, is designed to complement the educational policies of the Ebonyi State Government while providing opportunities for talented students from less privileged backgrounds.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Hon. Nwogbaga described education as the greatest investment any society can make, stressing that its impact extends beyond one generation. She said the scholarship programme would remain a priority of her foundation for as long as possible.
She, however, urged beneficiaries to remain focused on their studies, warning that poor academic performance or misconduct could lead to the withdrawal of the award.
The lawmaker expressed appreciation to the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for creating an enabling environment for meaningful representation and people-oriented governance. She noted that the scholarship scheme aligns with the Governor’s commitment to human capital development.
Drawing from her personal experience,Nwogbaga said she understands the financial burden associated with education and the devastating consequences of abandoning academic pursuits due to poverty. She therefore encouraged the beneficiaries to complement their academic programmes with vocational and entrepreneurial skills to prepare for future opportunities.
Nwogbaga also commended Governor Nwifuru for the numerous developmental projects executed within Ebonyi North East Constituency, including the construction of the Ogbaga–Randa–Ottam Road, the building of modern duplexes for traditional rulers, the award of local and overseas scholarships, and the appointment of sons and daughters of the constituency into strategic government positions.
She equally applauded the Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, for her humanitarian initiatives, describing her pet project as one that has brought hope and relief to many vulnerable persons across the state.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Adaeji Eje Mba Scholarship Foundation and Secretary of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly Service Commission, Mr. Ben Nwofoke, said the foundation was established in June 2024 to provide educational support and humanitarian assistance to indigent students, widows, orphans and other vulnerable groups within the constituency.
He commended Hon. Nwogbaga for what he described as exceptional and impactful representation, stating that her performance has distinguished her among past representatives of the constituency.
According to him, the lawmaker’s numerous constituency projects include the installation of solar-powered street lights at strategic locations, provision of boreholes across the seven wards, donation of transformers and rural electrification projects, distribution of agricultural inputs and fertilizers, empowerment of women and youths with vocational equipment, business grants, payment of WAEC examination fees, sponsorship of legislative motions and bills, organisation of football competitions, and payment of hospital bills for indigent patients.
