A Bauchi-state-based NGO known as Radiant Care Foundation, RCF, has organized a Medical Outreach for residents across Rafin Zurfi and Yelwa areas of Bauchi Metropolis.
The exercise known as Thrive 2.0 project, took place at Dunamis International Gospel Center, Rafin Zurfi.
Founder of the NGO
Mrs Comfort Aliyu, while speaking to AUTHORITY NEWSPAPER, said that the Medical Outreach was part of the Foundation’s commitment to bringing free Healthcare Services closer to the people, particularly the underserved.
Mrs Aliyu said that the exercise targeted 200 residents from the Community and surrounding areas for them to undergo Malaria, Blood Sugar, Hepatitis, and HIV tests, though optional.
She said that after the vital information were taken, then doctors would be consulted thereafter the patients would go to the pharmacy for their drugs.
The Founder said that cases that could not be handled at the Outreach were referred to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, ATBUTH, Bauchi.
“We have had three referrals, there are cases we need to follow up – one or two persons that need operations.
“There are also, people who do not know that they need routine drugs, so we schedule them and assign doctors to routinely follow them up,” Mrs Aliyu said.
She expressed appreciation that most of the Doctors were volunteers, helping in furtherance of the Foundation’s dream.
Mrs Aliyu noted that response from the people was not as expected attributing this to low publicity, which she assured would be improved upon next time around.
She said that the Foundation carried out intervention in August, 2026, at Ungwar Makafi, a blind community, under the Thrive 1.0 project.
“That was the pioneer Medical Outreach Project and then we targeted 100 people but had over 800 in attendance,” Mrs Aliyu said.
According to her, the organization intends to carry out the Medical Outreach bi-monthly, spread out across Communities in Bauchi Metropolis.
She said that though formally registered recently, the Foundation builds on over 12 years of continuous Community-based interventions and Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, activities.
Mrs Aliyu explained that these are by supporting individuals, Families, and Communities in need, as well as offsetting School Fees in Schools, and helping some patients in Hospitals.
“In the last 4 years, we have been consistent going to the Teaching and Specialist Hospitals here in Bauchi during festivities to give them Goodwill Messages and also showcase the love of God,” she said.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the organizers for the opportunity for them to access free Healthcare, in view of the harsh economic difficulties being faced.
