A coalition of 42 trade unions in Delta State has pledged support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and all All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The coalition, operating under the Delta State Informal Sector Association, comprises over 120,000 artisans and informal sector workers across the state.
The group pledged its allegiance at the weekend when its leadership paid a solidarity visit to Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone.
Playing host to representatives of the association, Sen. Dafinone described their coming together under one platform as a significant step towards strengthening grassroots mobilisation and political engagement.
He commended the various trade unions for uniting under the association and appreciated them for reaffirming their support for Tinubu, Oborevwori, his own re-election and the success of all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
The senator said the development reflected a shared commitment to strengthening the party’s political structures through effective grassroots mobilisation and sustained engagement with different segments of society.
He also acknowledged the importance of the informal sector, noting that the coalition’s broad membership provided an avenue for deeper engagement with artisans, traders and other workers across Delta State.
