By Okey Muogbo

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has released a statement in respect of a recent publication credited to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) on January 15, 2026 which the TCN said was not true.

A press release signed by Ndidi Mbah, General Manager (GM), Public Affairs of TCN on Friday said: “The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

wishes to clarify the recent social media statement issued by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) on January 15, 2026.

“The publication attributed its inability to deliver estimated hours of power supply on Idowa 33kV feeder at Ijebu-Ode 132/33kV Transmission Substation to its Band A customers from 10 am to 6 pm and 10 pm to 11 pm.

“We would like to state that our operational records show no load shedding imposed on the feeder during the referenced period.
“Instead, the Idowa 33kV feeder was taken out of service on a forced outage by IBEDC.

“TCN encourages IBEDC to ensure that information shared with the public, particularly its customers, is accurate and reflective of the situation on the ground.

“While TCN acknowledges that a system may experience glitches, we remain committed to our mandate of transporting bulk electricity efficiently to distribution companies load centers across the country.
“Our ongoing efforts to rehabilitate and expand our transmission network are aimed at enhancing overall transmission system performance.

“We kindly request that the referenced post be reviewed and updated accordingly,” Mbah said.
