China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) has pledged to deepen its engagement with host communities in Nigeria after deploying heavy-duty equipment and personnel to assist in the rescue of victims trapped in a collapsed building in Enugu.
The Chinese infrastructure company mobilised excavators, loaders and other equipment to the scene of the building collapse at Ogbalu Street, Independence Layout, Enugu, to support the emergency response, clear debris and facilitate safety checks.
Speaking with journalists after the rescue operation, CCCC Project Manager, Jin Haibing, said four people had so far been rescued from the collapsed structure.
Haibing said the company responded promptly to the incident to complement ongoing rescue efforts and ensure that available resources were deployed to assist those affected.
He said CCCC, which has maintained a longstanding presence in Nigeria’s infrastructure sector, remained committed to supporting communities where it operates and contributing to the safety, wellbeing and development of residents.
According to him, the intervention underscored the company’s concern for the welfare of local communities and reflected the spirit of friendship, solidarity and mutual support between the peoples of Nigeria and China.
CCCC has been involved in several major infrastructure projects across Nigeria, with the company maintaining that engagement with local communities and stakeholders is an important part of its operations.
The company said it would continue to strengthen its relationships with communities and stakeholders through practical interventions and closer cooperation.
It added that such initiatives would contribute to local development while promoting stronger people-to-people ties between Nigeria and China.
The company further reaffirmed its readiness to deploy its expertise, resources and experience in support of communities and the development of Nigerian cities and infrastructure.
