Be security conscious, pay attention to your children, CP charges FCT residents

By Hassan Zaggi

The Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Bala Ciroma, has charged residents of capital city to be security conscious and also pay special attention to the protection and security of their children.

He gave the charge while briefing journalists in Abuja, on Friday.

This is even as detectives attached to the FCT Police command have arrested a 47-year-old child trafficking suspect who offered N200,000 bribe to the officers.

Some of the recent feats recorded by the Command include within the past few weeks, the CP said, included the arrest of suspected kidnappers, recovery of their firearms and dislodging of their hideouts; arrest of armed robbery suspects, recovery of their firearms and operational cars; and arrest of suspects for incest, unnatural, and other criminal offences.

The continued that: “Similarly, Police detectives from this Command Anti-One Chance Unit investigating a reported case of child trafficking have arrested one John Griphin, 47 years for offering N200,000 as bribe to police detectives.

“The suspect offered the money to discourage further investigation into the case. Instead of yielding to his antics, the police officers who were professional in the discharge of their duty, collected the money and registered it as exhibit. Meanwhile investigation is still in progress on the child trafficking case.”

The CP, however, applauded the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu and the Minister of the FCT, Mallam Muhammed Musa Bello, for their support.
