Former F/Eagles goalkeeper, Osigwe joins top Swiss side

Through a statement on their official website, Swiss Super League side FC Lugano have announced the signing of former Flying Eagles goalkeeper Sebastian Osigwe.

The Lucerne-born glovesman has inked a three-year contract with Lugano, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2022-2023 season.

Born to a Nigerian father and Swiss mom, Osigwe has joined Lugano on a free transfer after he ran out of contract at SC Kriens at the end of the 2019-2020 campaign.

The 26-year-old began his career with the youth team of FC Luzern, followed by moves to FC Emmenbrücke, Zug 94 and SC Kriens – all in Switzerland.

His transfer to Lugano ticks all the boxes as he dreams of representing the Super Eagles, something which cannot be ruled out as manager Gernot Rohr is expected to look his way now that he is on the books of a European top-flight team.

Osigwe was a member of the Nigeria U20 squad to the 2013 Toulon Tournament in France and made his international debut for the Flying Eagles in a 1-1 draw vs Belgium.

Last season, he kept eight clean sheets in 20 league appearances while conceding 30 goals.
