Bstan Group targets 36000 housing units in 36 states annually for low income earners


Bstan group through its subsidiary, Bstan homes has proposed a mass housing development of 1000 units in each of the 36 states providing a total of 36,000 units annually.  


Speaking during the National House fair 5.0, in Abuja Thursday, the Vice President of Nigeria Prof Yemi Osinbajo, represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Adeola Ipaye, decried the housing deficit bedeviling the Nigerians, especially low income earners.


He however noted that there is no there is no shortage of policies and programmes enacted by various governments to tackle this debacle.According to him, “the challenge which over the last six decades has continued to evade sustainable solutions must be tackled. But I can assure you that it is also one of the issues this administration is seriously determined to resolve.


“Although, there is no shortage of policies and programmes enacted by various governments to tackle this debacle, we all know that the effective implementation  remains the persistent problem. I therefore hope that those of you, eminent professionals, who are participating  in the event today will enthusiastically deploy your skills and experience to find the right answers to the housing question in Nigeria, particularly the housing needs of the 70% of Nigerians who are low income earners, but who are desperately seeking a home they can afford.”

Also speaking, the Group Managing Director, Dr Becky Olubukola said that Shelter is a basic need and the right of every individual regardless of age, economic, social or political status, adding that the role that shelter plays in the social and economic development of a nation cannot be underestimated.
“Bstan Homes Metro Shelter is a scheme designed to achieve mass urbanization and the reduction of homelessness across Nigeria. Under this initiative, we are ensuring that governments across the 36 states of the federation including the FCT can provide affordable homes for residents.


“Metro Shelter will catalyze the achievement of urbanization and proper town planning, the eradication of slum shelters as well as partial or full resettlement for residents affected by insurgencies and natural disasters such as building collapse, flooding, fire outbreaks, etc.With equity contributions in mass land of 100 hectares per state, we propose a mass housing development of 1000 units in each of the 36 states providing a total of 36,000 units annually.”


“Interventions in housing development especially through mass housing by the Federal and State governments, private individuals as well as investors are media by which the social, economic and communal aspects of life of the average Nigerian can be positively impacted,” she added
