Nwokedi crowned Igwe Ijegun/Ije Ododo Kingdom, set to raise N50m for empowerment

…As he visits Ladipo Market where over N2b was lost to fire

Chief Chika C. Nwokedi (Okpoko 1 of Obodoukwu) has been crowned the Igwe of Ijegun/Ije Ododo Kingdom.

Nwokedi was decorated as Igwe in his palace, The Palace of Truth, in Ijegun by the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos on March 3, 2022.

Igwe Nwokedi was crowned Eze Ndigbo for his forthrightness, humility, philanthropy, and his love for equity, fairness and justice.

Igwe Nwokedi while expressing how elated he was also dished out programmes which he is set to implement during his reign. It include raising N50million empowerment fund to alleviate the sufferings of the less privileged in his domain and beyond, fight against land grabbing in his sphere and also assist people who are harassed by security agencies.

According to Igwe Nwokedi, he would kick start his activities with God by going to the RHEMA Deliverance Mission Church in Iba for thanksgiving on Sunday, March 6, 2022. On Monday, March 7, 2022 he will visit Ladipo Market in Lagos to assess the level of damage from the unfortunate inferno that visited the market, and to know what level of assistance to render to the traders.

Speaking to the media, the newly crowned king said “I am happy, I did not go for it, they called me and for over a year now they have been appealing to me to accept it. I accepted it knowing that it is a very big work.”

On what he intends to do differently from the thousands of other Eze Ndigbo in Lagos. “I will change a lot of things that are not good, and I will show that it is good to help those that you are leading, we are like servants, and that is why God appoint me by himself, I didn’t crave for it, it is God’s purpose, just keep your ear open. You will hear and believe, seeing is believing.”

On the role he is expected to perform as Eze Ndigbo, he said, “Some of my role will include, you know, some of our people when they buy land, they will take their land from them, they don’t have power, nobody to talk for them, I will go for it and I must get those land. I will raise N50million to do empowerment which before three months it will start, and my Igbo brothers who have police cases but have nobody to assist them and they don’t have money, I will help them. It is a very big task for me.

“The next thing is for me to go and thank God on Sunday at RHEMA Church, I started with God, I am moving with God and I must end with God,” Igwe Nwokedi stated.

He called his palace the palace of truth “My Palace is Obi Eziokwu, Palace of Truth, a palace that must always say the truth no matter who you are. After that on Monday I will go to Ladipo where I was Presido, to see and commiserate with those that lost their goods to the unfortunate inferno that visited the market, and to know any way I can assist them. Over two billion was lost to the fire.

Mrs Rita Akubueze, popularly known as Madam Longrich, speaking also said “I am here to witness the coronation ceremony of High Chief (Dr) CC Nwokedi, the Okpoko 1 of Obodoukwu. To me it is the right decision in the right direction, honestly High Chief CC Nwokedi is a man of the people; he has really touched many lives, uncountable. In fact there is nobody that will come across Dr Nwokedi that will not know that he met somebody. Honestly either in one way or the other something positive must impact on your life. We are not debating it, he is the best person for the position.”

Hon. Chief (Mrs) Emedurunwa, Ezenwanyi, who will be crowned Ochiora 1 of Ijegun/Ije Ododo Kingdom, on her part said, “Chief CC Nwokedi deserves the honour, he is somebody you can run to anytime, any day, anywhere he is ready to answer you. If you need help, he is a generous man, a man of good heart, a man of the people.”
