2023 Presidency: Ohuabunwa vows to bring transformational leadership into governance

By Myke Uzendu, Abuja

A frontline Presidential Aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa has declared that a new Nigeria is possible only through transformational leadership, use of technology and establishment of a secured environment that will guarantee a strong foreign investment inflow.

The aspirant further advised the main opposition party not to jettison zoning which is in the tradition of the party just as he rolled out his impeccable credentials in the public and private sector that towers him above other Presidential aspirants and a preferred candidate of the party.

Mazi Ohuabunwa made the call on Wednesday at the headquarters of PDP when he came to pick the N40 million Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.

Accompanied by his teaming supporters and drummers dressed in the traditional Igbo Ishiagu regalia, the aspirant who was the former Chief Executive Officer of Pfizer and Nimeth Pharmaceuticals expressed a matchless confidence over his impeccable achievement as former Chairman of Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), Member of the Presidential Committee on Vision 2010, Vision 2020 National Development Plans, and SURE-P; former Presidents of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria; Nigeria Employers consultative Association and Manufacturers Association of Nigeria which makes him the right man to lead the country in 2023.

“I have the required competence, capacity, work ethic, physical fitness, mental soundness and moral discipline to provide the right visionary leadership that Nigeria needs today.

“As an experienced technocrat, corporate strategist and visionary leader with national and global exposure, I stand up most equipped and ready to serve my country Nigeria as the next President. And I trust the PDP as the best party at this time to support me and avail me its democratic platform to realize my vision for Nigeria”.

The Presidential hopeful lamented that the political landscape is crowded by politicians who claimed that it is their turn to rule. He said that acute poverty and lack of vision among the political elite is what has led Nigeria into the abyss of degeneration and urged Nigerians to stop lamenting, postulating but support his journey to rescue the country.

On his plans to ensure that all parts of the country are secured, he continued, “The solution is to apply high level of technology for security surveillance. With technology, you can see anybody where he is located. With technology, you can hear, you can see with technology, we don’t even need to send physical force, we can send technologically driven forces and modern drones to get them where they are. If you have intelligence, you can hear and see. We’ll know what these people are planning before they get out with their plans, we will arrest them.

“I think that we need to rejig our security architecture and we need to be sure that we motivate those who fight for us”.

Ohuabunwa stated that poverty and indolence has caused so restiveness which on the other hand had crumbled the nation’s economy.

“We will create businesses, we will create programs, we will create projects because investments create businesses and businesses will create jobs. Jobs will create wealth. Wealth and poverty is almost linear in straight lines, the more investment you put in any given jurisdiction, the more business you create, the more business you create, and programs and projects, the more jobs you create. Nobody creates jobs by fiction. It must be directed to productive activity, and one productive activity leverages on the other”.

“The other thing I want you to do is that people leaving school, they are already on the journey to the job market. We will ensure that 50 percent of those who leave school go straight to business and 50 percent will go to for work because in your final year in the University you spent the year designing your business plan. It doesn’t matter what you’re reading, you must tell us how you’re going to solve the society’s problem with your profession or your training”.

Commenting on the zoning of the Presidency, Ohuabunwa said, “The party has a policy of zoning and we recommend that they do not change the goalposts in the middle of it”.

So far twelve aspirants have purchased the Presidential forms of the PDP including: Atiku Abubakar, Gov. Aminu Tambuwal, Gov. Bala Mohammed, Gov. Nyesom Wike, Gov. Udom Emmanuel.

Others are Sen. Pius Anyim, Sen. Bukola Saraki, Dr. Hayatu Mohammed, Dele Momodu and a female aspirant Oliver Diana.
