The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), FCT Command said it has deployed 4,000 personnel for Easter celebration in the territory.
The Commandant Dr. Peter Maigari said the personnel are to help provide adequate security in the FCT before, during and after the Easter celebration.
Those deployed include rapid response team to respond aptly in case of emergency; the Armed Squad, the female squad and men from the intelligence unit amongst others.
In a statement issued by the command Public Relations Officer, Comfort Okomanyi, stated that the men will be posted to churches, recreation centres, borders, mosques and other strategic places both in the Federal Capital City and on the outskirts of Abuja.
While addressing the officers and men of the command, Maigari emphasized on the Corps mandate of Safeguarding all Critical National Assets and Infrastructure both federal, State and local; disaster management and Intelligence gathering.
He further charge the personnel to discharge their duties with diligence, alertness, professionalism and to collaborate with sister agencies as soon as there is need for that to ensure security of lives and properties in the territory.
The statement urged the FCT populace to go about their businesses without fear, even as they maintain order, obey traffic rules, be civil and modest in their endeavours and to report any suspicious person or act to the appropriate quarter for further action, not forgetting that security us everyone’s business.”If you see something, say something” he said as he closed.
