Special Assistant to the Minister of Sports, and leading presidential candidate in the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) election, Abba Abdullahi Yola, received a boost to his question to lead Nigerian football as he received the endorsement of his Kano state Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje
Governor Ganduje who extolled the leadership qualities of the former chairman of Kano Pillars described him as well suited to liberate Nigeria’s football
The Governor who hosted the NFF presidential candidate and his team at the Kano State governors lodge in Abuja, remembered how he led the state football club, Kano Pillars to a back – to -back victory, during his time as chairman adding that he had the qualities to repeat same feat if he emerges the NFF president
Governor Ganduje therefore assured Abba Yola of the state government support as he battles with 10 other candidates for the NFF plum office
” I am supposed to take you round to convince the delegates because we have tested you and you delivered in Kano State,
“You have the experience, capability and ability to take Sports, especially football in the country to the highest level.
“We shall give you every assistance to support you because we believe than you are highly qualified for the job.
You are the best candidate for the job.
We need somebody who will understand the politics of sports and football, which you have manifested nothing at the nation’s National Sports Commission and Kano Pillars, ” the Governor stated
Earlier, Abba, Yola told the Governor that he is in the race because he believes the county’s football needs an experienced administrator like him, adding that he has given all his life to sports administration, having retired as a senior director at the Ministry of Sports, where he led the nation’s teams to so many sporting laurels
