… Tips Barau Jibrin For Senate President

Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kano and close associate to President Muhammadu Buhari, Danbilki Kwamanda, on Saturday, advised the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to jettison plans of wooing the National Leader and presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, back to APC, saying such moves is capable of destroying the party.
Kwamanda who spoke to journalists at Kano NUJ Press Centre, said secret meetings between Tinubu and Kwankwaso has been uncovered, insisting that such political deal remain unhealthy to the survival of APC in Kano and at the national level.
The outspoken Kano-born politician who assiduously campaigned for Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election, described Kwakwaso’s return to APC as a “bad omen” which will not only collapse the party’s structure, but will also throw it into unrecoverable crises.
Kwamanda also advised the APC national leadership to zone the Senate Presidency to North-west, tipping the Senator representing Kano North, Senator Barau Jibrin as the best candidate to occupy the position, going by his wealth of experience in legislative duties.
According to him, “Tinubu is secretly romancing Kwankwaso. May be, because Tinubu sees Kwankwaso as popular, that is why he wants to align himself with him.
” We in the North will not condone alliance with Kwankwaso. We will resist it in the North. Kwankwaso did not help Tinubu win the election. We will not allow Tinubu align with Kwankwaso in a bid for Kwankwaso to defect to APC.
“If this becomes reality, we will fight Tinubu and APC in the North. We are not impressed with Kwankwaso ‘s politics and we warn Tinubu not to dare woo Kwankwaso into APC.
“Tinubu sees Kwankwaso as a hero, we know he is not. Tinubu should not be carried away with Kwankwaso ‘s success in Kano and winning Kano in presidential election. He can not offer anything in Tinubu ‘s movement.”
Kwamanda further stated that the position of Senate Presidency is non-negotiable for the North, particularly Kano, having played a major role for the survival of APC as a party since its formation.
He vehemently campaigned for the candidature of Senator Barau Jubrin, saying that he has the required experience and legislative knowledge to preside of the 10th Senate.
He said : “APC National Chairman should not be party to any move against the Senate Presidency from the North-West. We are supporting Senator Barau Jubrin because he is the most deserved candidate.
” North -West performed the best in the presidential election and the Senate Presidency should come to the region and in the North-West, it is Barau Jibrin or nobody. Barau Jibrin has the experience and know-how among the candidates vying the Senate Presidency.
“Abdullahi Adamu should not dare bring issue of religion and zoning in the contest for Senate Presidency. It should be strictly for North-West and Barau is the last man standing because Kano produced the highest vote during the February 25 presidential election.
“It is wrong for APC national body to impose Senate President. This will be catastrophic. I warn the national chairman of APC not to bring issue of religion in Senate Presidency.”
