Following the resolve of the Federal Government to ensure quick completion of the 378.3 megawatts Egbema Power Plant in Imo State, which is said to be at 70 per cent completed, there’s strong indication that power supplies in the Eastern Heartland State will soon receive a boost.
The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, disclosed this while on inspection visit to the power plant, commending Governor Hope Uzodimma, for his dedication in collaborating with the Niger Delta Power Holding Company for the completion of the power projects in the state.
Accompanied by the Managing-Director of NDPHC, Engr. Chiedu Ugbo, the Minister commended President Bola Tinubu for signing the 2023 Electricity Act, which allows states to participate in the electricity sector.
Adelabu said the completion of the Egbema power plant and associated transmission projects will improve the electricity supply in Imo State and beyond.
Speaking, Uzodimma pledged to collaborate with the NDPHC to ensure the completion of the plant to improve the electricity supply in the State.
He said the collaboration would ensure the completion of the Power Plant and the 330/33KV switchyard, the Omoku-Egbema-Owerri-Alaoji 330KV DC transmission lines projects, and the Owerri transmission substation expansion project.
