The Federal Capital Territory Administration’s Primary Healthcare Board has engaged the media to drive awareness and participation in the upcoming Maternal Newborn and Child Health Week.
Speaking at a one-day media orientation on Maternal Newborn and Child Health Week on Friday, acting Director FCT Primary Healthcare Board, Dr. Ruqqaya Wamakko said the media remains strategic in educating caregiver and parents on the significance of immunisation exercise.
Mamakko represented by the acting Director Primary Healthcare, Dr. Okoli Nicholas, said the November/ December, 2025 exercise which is a week long event will be carried out by the health workers in all the PHCs across the sixty -two political wards of FCT, starting from November 21.
The Director explained that during the intervention children from 6-59 months will be recieving Vitamin A, also girl child from 9 Year-old will be recieving a special vaccines as recently introduced.
Wamakko commended the partners for their continued support, and the federal government for its continued support, calling on Abuja residents not to miss the opportunity.
She called all on parents to present children illegable for the immunisation as the PHC workers will be going to schools, markets, and worship centres.
On the overview, Dr. Ngozi Ezeh, FCT state nutrition officer, said the implementation strategies for Nov./Dec.2025 include fixed post (299) primary, secondary and Tertiary health facilities.
“We have 1,167 House to House teams, and 315 special teams, saying each theme has two persons, supervisor and a recorder”
On her part, head, advocacy, communication and social mobilisation in the board, Mrs. Elizabeth Ladikpo appealed to the media to always send out the right information concerning the immunisation activities.
She said only the media can give and guide people with the rightful information on happenings in the society.
