2027: APA endorses Senator Osita Ngwu for second term

A socio-political and economic pressure group in Enugu State, Aninri Peoples Assembly (APA), has endorsed Senator Osita Ngwu, representing Enugu West Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, as its preferred candidate for the 2027 general election.

The group praised the senator for what it described as laudable projects and empowerment programmes across Enugu West and beyond. It also pledged to mobilise voters to ensure his re-election, noting that his continued service would benefit the national interest, the South East zone, Enugu State and Enugu West Senatorial District.

The endorsement was made during a courtesy visit by the group to the senator at his Enugu residence on Wednesday, March 26, 2026.

Responding, Senator Osita Ngwu expressed appreciation for the endorsement and announced that he has adopted the Aninri Peoples Assembly (APA) as one of the support groups to drive his re-election bid in 2027.

Speaking with newsmen, APA leader, High Chief Shadrach Ekpete, revealed that the group was established five years ago with a focus on advancing the socio-economic and political development of Aninri Local Government Area, neighbouring communities and the wider society.

He stated, “At this particular point and moment in our political history, We have found out that Senator Osita Ngwu has performed creditably in the last two and half years, he represented us in the Senate. He is working like our brother ,Senator Ike Ekweremadu.

“We are here to endorse him for a second term in office. We also assure that we shall mobilise grassroots support for his election”.

Ekpete highlighted several projects executed by the senator, including the ongoing construction of the Amagu–Nkerefi road, which is expected to connect communities in Aninri Local Government Area with those in Nkanu East Local Government Area. He noted that the road project aligns with the socio-economic objectives of the group.

He also commended the senator’s educational empowerment initiatives, describing them as outstanding.

“We are aware that Senator Ngwu budgeted over N250 million for his scholarship and Bursary Award’ scheme for intelligent students cut across the five Local government areas of Aninri,Awgu and Oji River local government areas of the state. Please we have it as a Civic responsibility to re elect him,so he can continue in this direction. He is following the footsteps our brother, Senator Ike Ekweremadu”,High Chief Ekpete said

Corroborating, the Coordinator of APA, Hon. Sunday C.J. Anyim, described the group’s support for the senator as unwavering, calling him a grassroots-oriented leader.

He said, ” Senator Ngwu is a man of the People. He is a man of the people. A man who loves his Constituents and thinks good for his constituency.He is doing well in stomach Infrastructure.

“He is be also using his capacity to influence the completion of OKpanku /Ivo dam project,started by Senator Ike Ekweremadu.We the Aninri Peoples Assembly (APA) are endorsing him for a second term (4+4) to continue with his good works”,Hon.C.J. Anyim stated.

Anyim further expressed confidence that the group would ensure the senator’s victory in 2027.

According to him, ” We shall embark on grassroots campaign,from polling unit to polling unit and from house to house We shall campaign in all the 172 polling units in Aninri local government area.His victory is assured.We shall leave no stone unturned”,Hon.CJ.Anyim stated further.

The APA coordinator also commended High Chief Ekpete for his contributions to grassroots development and empowerment.

He stated, ” Chief Ekpete has empowered a total of 520 widows with material things. He has empowered over 250 Youths from Aninri to open up small business, those who learnt a skill to practise their trade while paying school fees for the intelligent Youths with poor background.

“Chief Ekpete has been empowering people since the past 10 years through his foundation ‘ONODUGO’foundation in collaboration with APA. He has built five culverts across nine villages in Amankanu Ohofia Oduma community,” Hon C J. Anyim disclosed.

It would be recalled that High Chief Shadrach Ekpete recently emerged as the Igwe-elect of Amankanu Ohofia Oduma Autonomous Community, following his philanthropic contributions and commitment to rural development. His emergence, according to sources, was in line with the customs and traditions of the community.
