Troops of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have neutralised three suspected terrorists in an ambush operation in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State, recovering an AK-47 rifle, a motorcycle and other items.

The operation, carried out by troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) FUDMA, is part of sustained military offensives targeting terrorists and other criminal groups across the state.

The Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 17 Brigade, Captain Abayomi Adisa, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that troops had mounted blocking positions along the Turare–Kitibawa–Kuka-Mai Damusa Road in Dutsin-Ma LGA as part of ongoing operations in the area.

Adisa said the troops, at about 9:40 p.m. on May 9, ambushed a group of terrorists believed to be escaping from ongoing military pressure in the Matazu axis.

He explained that three of the terrorists were neutralised in the encounter, while troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with three rounds of ammunition, a motorcycle, three cutlasses, assorted charms and a cash sum of N3,500.

Adisa added that troops have continued offensive operations against criminal elements with the aim of restoring peace and security across Katsina State.

He also called on residents to support security agencies with credible intelligence to enhance ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal activity.
