A Civil Liberty Organization, Stand For Humanity Foundation, has paid N800k delivery bill of a newly born twin, Amarachi Ngerem.
The newly born was held in a hospital in Owerri, Imo State, after over one month of her delivery because of her parents inability to pick the hospital bill.
The child born as a twin survived after her twin died 24 after delivery.
The Founder and president of the Foundation, Chidiebube Okeoma, in a statement in Owerri, the Imo State capital on Saturday disclosed that his organization had cleared the bill, gave the parents of the kid money and also drove them home in Obazu Mbieri in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of the state.
Okeoma said that his organization led a fund raising advocacy on social media and within 24 hours, the money was raised and the parents had more after the delivery bill was paid.
Okeoma, an activist journalist and humanitarian, said that a compassionate Nigerian, Dr Chima Amadi, of The Mazi Organization cleared the bill through his organization while other compassionate Nigerians paid money into the twin father’s bank account which his organization had asked him to use for the upkeep of the surviving twin.
According to the journalist, Stand For Humanity Foundation got interested in the new born’s case after it was brought to the attention of the organization that the newly born was being held back at the hospital after being discharged because of her parents inability to offset the bill.
