The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has called on Nigerians to be more nationalistic and support the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led federal government amidst global crises rocking different countries of the world.
Barau made the call while fielding questions from journalists at the National Eid Ground in Abuja over the weekend.
Barau emphasized that rallying round the federal government would fast-track the journey to a prosperous destination, citing the ongoing war in the Middle East and parts of Europe as reasons why Nigerians need to come together. “What we need at this time is to continue supporting Mr President, all of us, and to continue praying for him so that he can succeed in his efforts to bring prosperity to our nation,” he said.
The Senator noted that the world is full of challenges, and Nigeria is not an exception, stressing that unity and support for the government are crucial at this period. He expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s determination to bring prosperity to Nigeria, saying “we know, all of us who are working with him (Mr President) that he’s determined to bring prosperity to our nation”.
Barau congratulated the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and worldwide on the successful completion of the Ramadan Fast, praying for unity, wisdom, and prosperity for the nation. He felicitated with President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other leaders, wishing them success in their efforts to reform the country.
Imam Illiasu Usman, who led the prayers, tasked Nigerian leaders to put an end to insecurity in the country, emphasizing that Nigeria has the resources and means to deal with trouble-makers. He urged the government to intensify its war against bloodthirsty criminals, saying genuine development cannot take place in an insecure society.
The Imam’s call was echoed by Barau, who emphasized the need for national unity and support for the government. The Senator prayed for Allah’s help in uniting Nigeria and guiding President Tinubu in his efforts to bring prosperity to the nation.
The Eid celebration brought together Muslims from across the country, with leaders calling for peace, unity, and prosperity. As Nigerians celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the message from Barau and Imam Usman serves as a reminder of the importance of unity and support for the government in these challenging times.
