Tinubu departs for Saudi Arabia to pray for Nigeria

By Chesa Chesa

President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja Thursday for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah, an Islamic pilgrimage involving prayers and other religious rites at the Holy City.

According to a State House press release issued on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the visit will provide Tinubu an opportunity for spiritual reflection and prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and continued progress.

While in Makkah, the President will perform the rites associated with Umrah, seeking Allah’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its people, he said.

Before departing Abuja, Tinubu is scheduled to commission equipment acquired by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its operations.

The commissioning will take place at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, the statement said.

The President is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the spiritual exercise, Onanuga added.
