Cleric charges Christians on Thanksgiving

A Catholic Priest Rev. Father Daniel Akpoughol has enjoined Christians to at all times imbibe the virtue of returning to God in thanksgiving over his blessings upon them.

The AUTHORITY gathered that Akpoughol is the Parish Priest of Saint Lucy’s Catholic Parish Awajir, Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State.

The Catholic Priest gave the admonition in a sermon to mark a Thanksgiving Service by the family of Mr. John Actsu, a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police over his successful retirement from the Police Force which took place Sunday at Saint Pius Catholic Church Ikyon, Ugambe also in Konshisha Local Government Area.

Reading from the gospel of Luke: 22-40, the Catholic Priest decried the situation whereby most Christians abandon God whenever their prayers were answered stressing that such attitude was unacceptable in the sight of God and called for a change in that regard.

He thanked Mr. Actsu over his thoughtful ideal of returning to God after a successful career in the Police Force.

While praying God to continue to be with the Actsu family in all their endeavours, the Priest equally charged others to emulate his action as true Christians for enhanced God’s blessings.

Earlier ACP Actsu had informed that his decision to organize the Thanksgiving Service was to thank God over his blessings to his family and for also seen him through the Police Force for 35 years, rising to the rank of ACP without blemish.

Our Correspondent gathered that the service which was attended by a cream of personalities within and outside Benue State also witnessed the donation of building materials for the completion of the Church by the Actsu family.

Friends and well -wishers of the Actsu family, including members of the Intergrity Group Makurdi, it was further gathered also supported the family with donations of various kinds valued in hundreds of thousands to the Church.

In an interview with journalists, Mr. Sunny Odili, Chairman of Integrity Group, described the celebrant as an upright and detribalised Nigerian who had contributed a lot to the security architecture of the country and the society.

He expressed joy that God had seen him through the hazards associated with crime fighting in Nigeria to have gotten to a lofty height and prayed God to continue to guide and protect him even in retirement.
