COVID-19: KEDCO Hails Kano, Jigawa, Katsina Govts’ Proactive Measures

The management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has commended the governments of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states for their proactive approach to contain the spread of the dreaded coronavirus pandemic.

KEDCO also appealed to residents to strictly adhere to protective measures, promising to remain consistent in its determination to ensure constant power supply.

According to a Statement by KEDCO’s Head of Corporate Communications, Ibrahim Sani Shawai, ” the efforts in sensitizing the residents of each of the states under KEDCO franchise areas had paid off particularly with the fact that many are now aware of the devastating effects of COVID-19 across the world as well as the precautionary measures to take.

“Information is key in the fight against coronavirus. When people know about the virus, the symptoms, causes of the disease and what to do when there is a suspected case, the prevention will be enhanced. This has helped to also reduce panics and give hope to residents: This is good and highly commendable of the governments.

“The measures and modalities put in place by the governments in these three states are quite commendable and well appreciated. This means that the government is very well proactive to the plights and health of the people.

“Since there is no cure or approved vaccine for now, there is every need for the government to ensure the people are given control measures which the governments of these states have done.

“In adherence to these measures also, KEDCO has taken seriously the measures by government for all staff to adhere to while rendering essential services to ensure that the social distancing and other measures by the government are adhered to. “In a similar vein, we have given our staff especially those rendering essential services necessary kits like masks, gloves, sanitizer and imbibing the culture of regular hand washing.’’

KEDCO, however, called on the residents of these states to kindly adhere to the control measures to control the spread of coronavirus to these states, adding “ when we follow the guidelines, in no time we will be able to defeat the dreaded virus and return to normal life as soon as possible.

“Regular hand washing, using sanitizers and disposable masks should be used at times like this. We are in a strange time and we must understand with the governments because whatever they reel out is for the good of the societ,” the Statement added.
